UK festival weather does whatever it wants. Blazing sun on Wednesday, sideways rain on Friday, and freezing at 3am in a field on Saturday. The trick to festival clothing isn't packing more. It's packing pieces that work hard and still look like you.
We started Take Me To The Rave making festival jackets for mates, so we've had plenty of practice. Here's how we'd dress for a UK festival.
1. Start with a tee you actually want to be seen in
Your t-shirt is the bit everyone sees in every photo, so make it count. An oversized fit layers easily, stays comfortable for long days and looks right with shorts, cargos or a skirt. Bold graphics help your crew spot you in a crowd, too.
Bring one tee per day plus a spare. Cotton is breathable on hot days and easy to throw a layer over at night.

2. One jacket that handles everything
Festival nights get cold fast. A denim or workwear jacket is the most useful thing you can pack: warm enough at 3am, tough enough for mud, and roomy enough to throw over a hoodie. If it's a one-off, even better, because nobody else in the field will be wearing yours.

3. A festival bag that fits the essentials
Lost phones and lost wristbands ruin weekends. A crossbody bag keeps your phone, wallet, keys, water bottle and headphones on you and out of the way while you dance. Look for an adjustable strap and a proper zip.
4. A hat for sun, rain and bad hair days
A bucket hat earns its place at every festival. It keeps the sun off during the day, the drizzle off at night, and hides day-four hair completely.
5. The boring bits nobody regrets
- Wellies or waterproof boots, plus comfy trainers for dry days
- A lightweight waterproof that packs small
- A warm hoodie for nights
- Spare socks. More than you think.
- Sunglasses and suncream, because UK sun still burns
Festival clothing that lasts beyond the weekend
The best festival outfits aren't one-wear costumes. Pick pieces you'll keep reaching for long after the wristband comes off: a tee you love, a jacket with a story, and a bag that comes to every gig after.
